Knitted base for a wreath

|

I have made the crochet spring wreath but in this post I want to show you how to make the base. How to cover a styrofoam ring. You can buy them in any craft shop just look for styrofoam rings for wreaths.

You can get different sizes but the formula to cover them is always the same.

I am making a plain rectangle that is long as the rings outer circumference is and wide as the foam ring (phi) is. The easiest way is just to get a measuring tape and measure it.

I was doing knit and purl stitches, changing them so that the face side has only knit stitches except every 10-12 rows where I did 3 rows of purl stitches on the face side. I like to randomize things.

The base is much more stretchy as the crocheted one and there are no holes. That are the main reasons why I am knitting them.

Happy crafting

I knew I was not the only one who knits and crochets. And yes, I agree with the knitted base for the wreath. Will have to try it out, perhaps for summer if I will have the time.

"As a beginner crochet lover I absolutely adore the free patterns you put on. It helped me improve my skills and the extended family is happy for all the crochet decoration I made this season. The patterns all have YouTube video tutorial to watch row by row how it is made. I learned new stitches and it was easy to crochet. Thank you." - Anna M.
