Crochet rose bookmark
|
Crochet ROSE flower that I usually use for a bookmark / bookmarker. With thicker yarn / wool you can make bigger flowers for accessorize a hat or a bag and with a much thinner yarn you can make tiny crochet roses and use them for a jewellery piece.
This is just a simple basic crochet pattern for a rose.
The stitches used in this pattern are:
- sl st – slip stitch
- ch – chain stitch
- sc – single crochet stitch
- dc – double crochet stitch
Pattern in words and diagram for crochet rose:
The diagram for the crochet rose is the following
Pattern for crochet rose in words:
- 1 – ch 37 – remember the last chain – put a marker in
- 2 – ch 5, dc in the marked stitch, {skip 2ch and in the 3rd ch from the hook dc, ch2, dc in the same stitch} x 12 – in total you will have 13 V spaces on your chain
- 3 – ch3, 5dc in the ch2 of the previous row, ch2, sc in between 2dc from the previous row, {ch2, 5dc, ch2, sc}x 11, ch2, 5dc, ch3, ss in the 3rd stitch from the ch5 or the previous row
- ch 1, cut the yarn, leave enough to sew the rose together – 25cm, and pull the yarn through the ch
Because I am working with cotton yarn I ironed and blocked the rose before starting the swirling.
Now to assemble it together you just start to swirl it around the first petal. You can see in the picture below how to do it in steps and then sew together at the bottom.
Easy flower leaf
Now to make a bookmark you will need a stopper at the bottom and for that I will be making a leaf. A double leaf.
The pattern diagram for the one double leaf or two leaves is
After you finish the double leaf you continue with the stem.
The stem is as long as you need it to be for the bookmark. I am making the string of chains 30cm long.
Now at the top where the flower and stem should join you make a sepal.
Now for the sepal work from the last chain of the stem.
The pattern for the top sepal is a simple circle with a base of 6 stitches.
Written pattern for sepal:
- magic ring
- 6sc
- ch 1, {inc}x6 → 12
- ch1, {inc, sc}x6 → 18
- {ch3, sc} x18 → 18 – this makes an uneven edge
Leave a bit of yarn to sew the rose and the sepal together.
In this YouTube video tutorial you can se step by step process how to crochet the rose:
And in this second YouTube video tutorial you can see how to make the double leaf, stem, sepal and how to join all together:
