Crochet Christmas present ornament
|
This crochet Christmas present ornament is super cute and super easy to make. A nice present in any color you like with a bow in a contrasting color. The pattern is free with written instructions, diagrams and a YouTube video tutorial.

It uses only basic stitches and the pattern is adjustable to what you need. The color combination is up to you. I chose red and gold, because this year I want more handmade, DIY ornaments on my Christmas tree.
The patters is SUPER EASY because it only uses chain stitches and single crochet stitches. It is also adjustable. I you want bigger present just make the base (row 0) longer - make more chains. If you want it smaller then you make less rows.
Size: With my 3mm crochet hook and a base of 10 chain stitches the finished Christmas present ornament is 5x5 cm (2x2 inc) big or small. It also doesn't have to be a perfect square. If can be taller or shorter. Mix and match I would say.
Materials needed for the project:
- crochet hook (3mm)
- yarn (appropriate size for the crochet hook)
- scissors
- needle
The stitches used in this pattern are:
- magic ring
- sl st – slip stitch
- ch – chain stitch
- sc – single crochet stitch
Pattern:
- Row 0: ch 10
- Row 1 - Row 10: ch1, 10sc
The diagram for the present base:

When you make the first square finish it off. With the second square you do not cut the yarn but you continue with joining the two squares and make a loop on top.
While joining the squares in each row or/and stitch you make a single crochet stitch, except in the corners where you make 2 single crochet stitches.
The BOW pattern:
- magic ring
- ch3, 3dc, ch2, sl st in the magic ring,
- ch3, 3dc, ch2, sl st in the magic ring
- close the magic ring and with the end tail loop around the center to close any gaps.
The diagram for the bow:

If you want to see how it is done you can look at the YouTube video tutorial I made.
