Crochet BUNNY amigurumi

|

How to crochet the bunny? EASY with my pattern broken down to just the basic shapes. You can use it as a toy or as decoration for the upcoming Easter spring time. For you, your kids or to gift someone it is just the perfect little bunny amigurumi.

With a 3mm crochet hook it came out 15cm / 6inc tall. Only the ears are 5cm / 2inc long.

The stitches used in this pattern for the crochet bunny are:

  • sl st – slip stitch
  • ch – chain stitch
  • sc – single crochet stitch
  • inc – increase single crochet stitch – make 2sc in 1
  • dec – decrease single crochet stitch – join 2sc in 1

Materials needed for the crochet egg:

  • crochet hook (3mm)
  • yarn (appropriate size for the crochet hook)
  • scissors
  • needle
  • stuffing - you can use polyester fiberfill, cluster fiberfill, recycled cotton filling, rice,...
  • safety eyes (2) or buttons (2) or embroidery thread

Pattern for the head:

  • magic ring
  • R1: 6sc – 6st
  • R2: 6inc – 12st
  • R3: {sc, inc} x6 – 18st
  • R4: {sc, inc, sc} x6 – 24st
  • R5: {3sc, inc} x6 – 30st – row for the ears count 9st, place marker in, 3st place marker out, 6 st place marker in, 3st place marker out, 9 st
  • R6: {2sc, inc, 2sc} x6 – 36st
  • R7:36sc – 36st – row for the eyes count 14st, place marker in (eye 1), 8st, place marker out (eye 2), 14st
  • R8 – R13: 36sc – 36st
  • R14: {2sc, dec, 2sc} x6 – 30st
  • R15: {3sc, dec} x6 – 24st
  • R16: {sc, dec, sc} x6 – 18st
  • R17: {sc, dec} x6 – 12st
  • R18: {dec} x6 – 6st

Ears – make 2

  • magic ring
  • R1: 5sc – 5st
  • R2: 5inc – 10st
  • R3: {4sc, inc} x2 – 12st
  • R4-R10: 12sc – 12st – cut yarn leave a tail to sew the ears to the head

The position for the eyes and ears is just a proposition. You can place the safety eyes closer together, lower or higher. Do whatever works for you. I encourage that you try out something new.

Perhaps put both ears on one side or just closer together. Play with it, pin it and then when you are happy about the position sew it on.

Arms – make 2 – working in continuous rounds

  • magic ring
  • R1: 6sc – 6st
  • R2-R8: 6sc – 6st – cut yarn leave a tail to sew the arms to the body

Legs and body

First make both legs, with the first one cut the yarn and join invisibly, the second one DO NOT CUT the yarn.

Legs:

  • magic ring
  • R1: 6sc – 6st
  • R2: 6inc – 12st
  • R3-R6: 12sc – 12st

join leg 2 and leg 1 with single crochet stitches all around, with the end tail of leg 1 sew the gap between the legs together – watch the video on how to do that.

  • R4, R5: 24sc – 24st
  • R6: 8cs, inc, 2sc, inc, inc, 2sc, inc, 8sc – 28st
  • R7: 28sc – 28st
  • R8: 10sc, inc, 6ch, inc, 10sc – 30st
  • R9, R10: 30sc – 30st
  • R11: 10sc, dec, 2sc, dec, 2sc, dec, 10sc – 27st
  • R12: 9sc, dec, 5sc, dec, 9sc – 25st
  • R13: {3sc, dec} x5 – 20st
  • R14: {sc, dec, sc} x5 – 15st
  • R15: 15sc – 15st
