Classic one color Granny square

|

Who loves granny squares? I know I do with each year more and more. They are so versatile and I am using them for blankets, bags, home decoration, bottle holders, afghans, purses. This single color granny square comes with a twist or a flip to crochet faster and keep a nicer square shape and a variation for smaller gaps between.

According to Wiki: “A granny square is a piece of square fabric produced in crochet by working in rounds from the center outward. Granny squares are traditionally handmade. They resemble coarse lace. Although there is no theoretical limit to the maximum size of a granny square, crocheters usually create multiple small squares (called "motifs") and assemble the pieces to make clothing, purses, Afghan blankets, and other household textiles.”

Thank you for your great vide tutorial. It was bothering me to make it, but when I tried your trick. I have to say my crochet granny square actually looks like a square. Can't wait to make 12 more so I will be able to make them into a bag. But I will make more rows so my bag will be bigger.

Yes, I will make also a classic one, where I change the colors. And I will actually make 2 different videos on how to start a new row. A standing double crochet and with a chain of 3.
